In the mid fourteenth century Binor Park was part of the extensive grounds belonging to the Earls of Arundel. It was used for hunting purpose as deer were ten Earls preferred prey. However in 1584 the estate was purchased by Richard Pellatt of Steyning. He buily a home there converting what was a hunting ground into a home with palatial gardens and extensive woodlands. What survives are the two finials at the West end of the gardens. The property was passed by will down generations until it was disposed of in 1712 to Nicholas Turner.
Interestingly enough for lovers of poetry, the renowned poet ( esteemed novelist) Charlotte Turner Smith (1749-1806) grew upon at the home at Bignor Park. It prided the setting for many of her most famous works.
